#### Mimic Mutation As a direct result of both the systematic breeding program that created her, and the extensive and unique experiments that were done to her prior to her freedom, Illyria’s mimicry abilities are significantly more extensive/advanced than any other recorded member of her species. The degree of differences present are such that for all intents and purposes Illyria represents the only known member of a new species. While a standard mimic is able to alter their shape and pigmentation as needed, their mimicry exists on a purely superficial level and is, in the vast majority of instances, almost entirely limited to inanimate and stationary objects. Illyria, on the other hand, has displayed not only the ability to mimic stationary objects, but has also shown proficiency at the mimicry of various animals including common domestic animals such as dogs all the way up to humanoids. Although it would be remarkable enough were she simply capable of mimicking an observed form, she has also demonstrated the ability to combine known elements into novel arrangements. Although the level of complexity and resemblance to baseline examples of any given form tend to vary in response to a variety of factors, sufficient experience/familiarity with the form in question can produce results that are all but indistinguishable from true examples under anything but intense observation. Although a complete explanation of how some aspects of her mimicry function, especially in comparison to other members of her species, Illyria has been able to produce physical properties more closely resembling the source than should otherwise be possible. Some examples of this include the ability to enhance density, tensile strength, and resilience to levels comparable to hardened leather or even metal with sufficient experience. However, while her enhanced mimicry is not only unique but impressive, there are a few known limitations associated, including but not limited to: ##### -          Objective Mass – While Illyria is able to modify most physical properties including topography, color, density, and others, she is limited in relation to her total objective mass and is unable to create or remove mass as part of her mimicking. Thus, while she might take the form of a human or a dog, the total mass of both would be equal and she would not be able to take the form of a mouse of appropriate size without another external factor being present. ##### -          Limited Experience – Although endowed with more intelligence, creativity, and ability than any previous member of her species, she remains young in both chronological age and general experience. In general, Illyria is unable to mimic something which she has not encountered and understands. Though she might make a guess based on 3rd party information, such as a description in a book, any mimicry derived from such would be, at best, an educated guess and the chances for errors would be high. This limitation not only applies to gross mimicry, but to the mimicry of individual traits of any size as well. For example, while she might mimic a human male in armor, prior to gaining the required experience her mimicry would likely be easily identifiable, in the way the armor moved or behaved. She would need to explore and examine a relevant example herself before she would be able to improve. ##### -          Non-magical Mimicry – While there is undoubtable potent magic involved in Illyria’s mimicry, she is unable to mimic properties that function through magic as opposed to physical traits/laws. Thus, with enough experience she may be able to mimic a dragon of an appropriate size, no amount of experience would enable her to manifest the breath attack or other magically supplied traits associated with said dragon. Another example is that while she could manifest an amulet that would be entirely convincing, she would not be able to manifest a potential enchantment such an amulet might possess. However, one mitigating factor in this context is present in Illyria’s independent magical abilities. As a wizard of the order of scribes, Illyria is able to produce increasingly potent magical effects that are unrelated to her mimic heritage. Thus, while she could mimic a dragon but could not mimic its fire breath, she could produce any number of fire spells to simulate such an effect, which could be entirely convincing if done correctly. ##### -          Indivisible Whole – While Illyria may be all but unlimited when it comes to shape, clothing, and accoutrements, all such remain a cohesive part of her, even when such is not obviously observable. Thus, while she could manifest an ornate outfit that includes elaborate jewelry, and she might appear to remove or otherwise manipulate a manifested object in any number of convincing ways, she would not be able to have any such object removed from her physical form without injury. While an object might appear to be a ring or trinket, it might as well be a finger and the removal of such an object would cause damage proportional to its mass and would undoubtably provoke an aggressive response.   #### Selective Mimicry As previously noted, Illyria has displayed the ability to manifest any number of distinct traits that have been previously mastered into novel and inventive new forms, combining elements of disparate and unrelated mimicry’s into original forms. These forms may bare only passing, if any, resemblance to the form the originally possessed it. Although this ability can be observed in a variety of different contexts across many if not all observed forms, nowhere is it more obvious than in her self-described “combat form” ##### -          Combat Form – Illyria has begun experimenting in an original form that contains an assortment of traits. The specific traits shown not only tend to vary in response to the context where it is expected to be used, but may also change radically in response to mood, the introduction of a new trait, or even simple boredom or curiosity. The most recent observed iteration was described thusly: “_Once the shifting, almost liquid movement of the change had stabilized the new form towered over us. It must have stood nearly 7ft tall at its highest point at rest. The normal human shaped legs it had started with had split and changed, replaced by four long, thick, multijointed limbs that ended in a pointed rigid cap. In its resting position the legs nearly doubled back on themselves and would dramatically increase its already towering height if extended to their full. Rising from a central point equidistant from each leg was an almost humanoid torso. Though, while passing observation might inspire ideas of humans and other hominids, it may well have been more comparable to those of a more simian origin, being both too long and too heavily muscled for any of the civilized races. A pair of limbs emerge from the trunk slightly below where the last rib would be in a human, and aside from possessing unusually long and dexterous fingers, appear otherwise unremarkable. Above these limbs is a second pair of limbs, connecting where arms would normally be located in a standard hominid. However, unlike the lower pair of limbs the upper are structured more akin to the lower limbs, possessing multiple joints and an extended length that is partially masked by remaining folded and pressed against the body the majority of the time. These upper limbs also lack opposable digits and instead end in long scythe like blades formed of an unusual enamel coated bone like substance. The entirety of its visible external structure, save for some parts of the lower set of its upper limbs, are covered in a chitinous exoskeleton formed from unknown and potentially exotic components. All observed parts of the exoskeleton display identical properties and are of a glossy dark purple color almost indistinguishable from black._ #Illyria
